Plant Technician

This position is located at our Warehouse in Itasca, IL.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Maintain and troubleshoot all conveyor systems, electrical and mechanical
  • Perform maintenance checks on all equipment within distribution facility (conveyor, case sealer, case taper, print and apply,
    • Equipment includes: Conveyor, Carton Erectors, Carton Sealer, Print and apply machines, compressor and compressed air lines, stretch wrappers, self-driving stretch wrappers)
  • Handle all support related requests by phone or email to tech support to resolve issues
  • Complete documentation of equipment stoppages, interventions and repairs in all production filling and packaging equipment logbooks, per applicable SOP for analysis and corrective actions
  • Develop and maintain maintenance schedules for all equipment     
  • Maintain inventory for all supplies, tools, spare parts and tools.     
  • Work with 3PL to perform inventory and reorder supplies needed     
  • Maintain reports for supply spend and cost analysis     
  • Support scheduled maintenance (2 -4 Saturdays per year)     
  • Start machines and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and to detect problems.
  • Inspect or test damaged machine parts, and mark defective areas or advise supervisors of repair needs.
  • Lubricate or apply adhesives or other materials to machines, machine parts, or other equipment, according to specified procedures.
  • Collaborate with other workers to repair or move machines, machine parts, or equipment.
  • Clean machines and machine parts, using cleaning solvents, cloths, air guns, hoses, vacuums, or other equipment.
  • Assist and/or help out in other Distribution Center functions as required.
  • Act as safety officer for warehouse operations.

 

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Experience installing, troubleshooting, replacing, and updating electromechanical systems, PLCs, conveyor systems, sorters, etc.
  • Ability to operate equipment in a safe and controlled manner, i.e., box erector, tape machine, material handling equipment etc.
  • Ability to perform all tasks in a safe manner, following all safety rules and guidelines
  • Ability to follow simple directions (verbal and written) in English
  • Must have knowledge of Excel, Word and WCS/WMS Systems
  • Knowledge of electrical systems including 480 VAC power 
  • Bachelor's Degree is required.

 

Environment Factors

  • This position works primarily in a typical warehouse and industrial environment.
  • This position requires ability to lift 25 - 75 lbs. individually
  • Able to move 150 lbs in a safe manner
  • Read electrical and mechanical drawings for troubleshooting
